A third-generation business owner and leader of an engineering design firm for over two decades, he is known for his ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, resolve challenges efficiently, and align project goals with client expectations. Mr. Floyd has led numerous healthcare and commercial projects, including those under indefinite delivery service models, delivering practical, code-compliant, and cost-effective solutions. His strong communication skills and dedication to staying current with evolving codes make him a trusted partner in every phase of design and construction.

Mr. Godfrey is a Texas State registered engineer with over 30 years of experience in electrical and mechanical systems design, project management, and HVAC manufacturing. Since 2008, he has served as Director of Engineering at MEP Associates Design Group, Inc., overseeing all phases of MEP design, construction documentation, and contract administration. His background includes engineering roles at G.E. and Goodman, followed by the launch of his own HVAC-focused sales organization. Mr. Godfrey brings deep expertise in working with equipment manufacturers, sourcing, and resolving technical challenges—making him a key asset to the firm's success.

Dr. Karen Floyd is President and Administrator of MEP Associates Design Group, Inc., a Texas Certified HUB organization. With a strong background in business administration, education, and organizational development, she has played a key role in the growth and operation of MEP Associates since its founding in 2001. Dr. Floyd oversees all administrative and strategic aspects of the company—including finance, legal, HR, and contracts—and focuses directly on HUB projects to support historically underutilized businesses. Her diverse experience, including prior leadership in education and healthcare-related projects, brings valuable insight and coordination to every phase of MEP project development.

Roles and Responsibilities

Since MEP Associates' founding in 2001, Dr. Floyd has overseen financial, legal, and operational matters while managing employee relations, contracts, and marketing.

Her primary engineering focus is on HUB projects, where she is dedicated to promoting opportunities for historically underutilized businesses in design and construction.

Tom leads HVAC and lighting systems design with over 10 years of MEP industry experience. A LeTourneau University graduate and registered Texas EIT, he is currently pursuing PE licensure. Tom specializes in project planning and coordination, delivering efficient, effective designs. Outside of work, he enjoys music, golf, and boating with his wife.

Julio specializes in electrical power and plumbing design, with 10 years of experience in the MEP industry. He oversees contract document design and production, ensuring efficient scheduling and timeline management. With hands-on experience in the electrician field, Julio brings a practical understanding to every project. Outside of work, Julio enjoys volunteering in the community, woodworking, and spending quality time with family.
